Information:
For those who dont know, Commander (Previously Elder Dragon Highlander.) is a 100 card Singleton format. The rules in-depth can be found at:
http://mtgcommander.net/rules.php
The aim of our League is to get players together to cast spells in one of the best loved, community created formats in Magic history. We will be playing with a points system, intended to reward players for feats they complete inside the game as well as the overall outcome.
The evening consists of pods of four players,(Can be bigger or smaller if necessary.) with players earning points throughout the game for achieving certain game states and losing points for doing things that could be considered unfun for the rest of the table. (Destroying everyones lands, for example.) There will be static points that will stay on the points system every month, as well as ones that rotate. The rotation allows players to build around the point system as they are announced each month, giving deck builders a chance to shine!
To check the next months points rotation, you can find them on our website at:http://www.bazaargames.co.uk or at the tournament itself.
There will be a prize for the most points from that pod(A prize foil and a pack). A prize for the current leader in points at the end of each month(A foil Legendary Creature, dibs on the Zur the Enchanter). Lastly there will be prizes for the top three players at the end of the year(Their general commissioned to be painted, full art.).
Itching to try this format but dont think you have got enough individual cards to make a deck? Well you could purchase one of the five different pre-constructed Commander decks from our store either online or at the venue itself. Each of the decks contains a How to Play Magic guide, an insert on the rules of Commander, 3 over sized foil General cards, as well as their smaller counterparts, contained in a 100 card deck. These are built and ready to break out of the box and join in a game!
We are also starting a weekly Modern event at the Watford Social Club.
Come down to the Watford Social Club at 6:30pm every Thursday for Magic: the Gathering Commander!

Negative Points
-5 Points - Lock Out.
Locking people out of the game and not winning the pod after your next turn includes; destroying mana-bases, causing mana-bases to not untap, repeatedly bouncing all permanents a player controls, etcetera. (This penalty is in the spirit of the rule, and not the letter of the rule, effects that would reset the board for all or most of the players at the table will be awarded this penalty. This can be awarded to the same player more than once per pod. Use of an Annihilator trigger to wreck your own mana base DOES NOT give the controller of Annihilator this award.)
-3 Points - Disrespect - Being blatantly disrespectful to another player at any time will be awarded this penalty, this can be awarded multiple times to the same player per pod.
-3 Points - But we only just started -- Ending the game before the fifth turn.
-2 Points - Is it my go yet? -- Taking three or more turns in a row.
-2 Points - Only there for its colour - Not casting your general in a game.
-1 Point - Come on! -- For each minute over six minutes spent in a turn will be awarded this penalty. Time taken to resolve spells or abilities dont count, time taken on choices during a resolution of a spell does. (Example: The resolution of a large storm count does not count toward this penalty. Taking time on choosing a card from Thoughtseize does.)
Positive Points
+2 Points - By Each Their Own - If every player eliminated from the game is eliminated by a different State Based Action, each player on the table receives this accomplishment. The ways to lose are: Drawing from an empty library, General Damage, Life at 0 or less, 10 poison counters or a Target Player loses the game trigger.
+1 Point - Lets Do That Again - Save an opponent from taking lethal damage. (This can be through prevention or redirection of damage, whether it be direct or from creatures, or through the use of life gaining spells or abilities. This award can only be earned once per opponent saved, multiple saves of the same opponent by the same person do not count.)
+1 Point - C-c-c-combo Breaker! -- Prevent an opponent from performing an infinite loop. (For example destroying a Splinter Twin enchanted to a tapped Deceiver Exarch.)
+1 Point - The Bigger They Are, the Harder They Fall - The person with the highest life total when he/she died (for combat death, look at the life total before combat damage was applied) wins a point.
+1 Point - He Who Dies With the Most Toys, Loses - The person who had the least artifacts in play when he/she died wins a point.
+1 Point - What Friends? - The person who had the least creatures in play when he/she died wins a point.
+1 Point - The Promised Land - The person who had the least lands in play when he/she died wins a point.
+1 Point - You are Outta Here - Kill a player or being directly responsible for a players elimination. There is the obvious - controlling the source of the damage (whether its direct or creatures). This also includes, although is not limited to alternate methods, such as controlling the Howling Mine that makes the player deck himself, or redirecting lethal damage to someone. (Player A plays Fireball, Player B Swerves the Fireball to Player C.) This can be awarded more than once to the same player.
+1 Point - Im still standing! - Be the last surviving player of the Pod or win the Pod with a Win the game. trigger.
September 2011 Bonus Points - Mono-a-Mono - Additional Points (Can be awarded to more than one player per pod.)
+1 Point - Colour me impressed -- Control ten creatures of a certain single colour.
+1 Point - Back to Basics -- Control 15 basic lands of a single type.
+1 Point - From the Vault: Ancient -- Control 5 Cards from the Alpha, Beta, Unlimited or Revised Sets. (Permanents or cards on the stack.)
+1 Point - Izzet how thats going down? -- Save another player from being eliminated whos single colour combined with your single colour would form a Ravnica guild.
+1 Point - Not so Mono now... -- Gain control of three different creatures that do not share a colour with other creatures you control.
